Repair welding carried out on five stone hardening boilers

Wall thicknesses below specification at the butt joints in the brine area

Our (S)Teamplayers from the service and maintenance team had another exciting repair job at the beginning of the month. During the regular inspection by a ZÜS expert, wall thickness deficiencies were found at 22 locations in five different stone hardening boilers. The butt welds in the brine area were affected.

The brine area, where the accumulated condensate drains away, is particularly susceptible to so-called washouts. Here, the areas at the butt joints are subject to constant stress. Within just 4.5 days, our (S)Teamplayers carried out the necessary weld repairs. In doing so, our long-standing and experienced experts adhered completely to the procedure prescribed in the regulations.

This paid off in the subsequent MT test and the final pressure test with the ZÜS. There were no complaints whatsoever and the five boilers were able to be put back into operation without further delay.
