Steam dryer

The steam produced by a steam boiler system normally never consists of 100% saturated steam.

Heat losses due to excessively long pipes or insufficient insulation can cause some of the steam to condense back into water. As a result, the degree of dryness of the saturated steam continues to decrease and wet steam forms. The condensate in the steam settles on the pipes and can cause erosion and leaks. In addition, the supply of saturated steam that is as dry as possible is of great importance for many steam-powered processes. The sensitive equipment and consumers must be adequately protected against damage. Hagelschuer steam dryers (cyclone separators or water separators) are ideal for this purpose.
They dewater the wet steam before it reaches the sensitive consumers.

The steam dryer is a container with a built-in vortex insert. It works according to the principle of inertia. It uses centrifugal force to separate the water particles from the steam. To do this, the steam flows into the steam dryer and is passed through the built-in vortex insert. The solid water particles are thrown outwards against the inner wall of the container by their own inertia and run downwards into the collection container. The condensate can be drained from the collection chamber and disposed of properly or recycled. The dehydrated, dry steam then flows out of the tank again.
