CASE STUDY: STEAM GENERATOR FOR THE BRICK AND BUILDING INDUSTRY

STEAM SUPPLY ENSURED WITH ULTRA-MODERN MODULE SYSTEM

Wienerberger GmbH, a manufacturer of clay materials and brickmakers, operated two steam boiler systems with an output of 4 t/h each at its plant in Malsch. Both steam generators for the brick industry could be operated completely redundantly if required and each had its own feed water supply.

The task

As the entire system had become uneconomical over the years, it was replaced with a new and efficient, modular steam boiler system. Furthermore, the new system was connected to the existing osmosis system and also supplies the heat exchanger for the hall heating with steam.

The challenge

A constant steam supply for brick production had to be ensured for the duration of the conversion work. Therefore, one of the existing systems remained fully operational while the other was dismantled.

The system

The Hagelschuer specialists set up the new 3 t /10 bar steam boiler system with the space-saving feed water module up within one week and prepared all of the supply lines. After commissioning the new system successfully, the second existing system was dismantled. The space that was freed up in the boiler house was used to install a new polystyrene foaming machine. This is also supplied with process steam from the new steam boiler system. Therefore, the ultra-modern system technology does not just supply the steam for brick production but also supplies the hall heating and the new foaming machine thanks to an intelligent system controller.
