District heating supply ensuredover the winter months in Spandau
To secure the district heating supply for the Spandau district, Vattenfall uses two hot water boilers at the Reuter West Kraftwerk in Berlin over the cold season. The DK1164 and TICK rental boiler plants together provide approx. 30 MW of heating capacity. Admixing pumps raise the return temperature at each individual boiler, as this is relatively low due to the network. This prevents condensation of the flue gases in the boiler, and also reduces thermal stresses in the boilers, as they can thus be operated with a lower spread (temperature difference between supply and return). Both boiler plants are approved for mobile use.
The task
Despite the need for heavy transport, both plants were erected and commissioned in a short time. Both units can be used for hot water as well as for steam operation. rental steam boiler TICK (and its identical brother TRICK) with its 11 MW or 16.3 t/h can also supply superheated steam up to approx. 300 °C at approx 18 bar.
